Prophylaxis

Prophylaxis is referred to as the first phase of dental treatment. Preventive measures are intended to prevent teeth or the periodontium from becoming diseased in the first place. Prophylactic measures include professional cleaning of the tooth surface to remove plaque and tartar, as well as the use of preparations that strengthen the tooth enamel and increase its resistance to decay.

Dental implants & Bone augmentation

In case of tooth loss due to illness or accident, implants help.

What is an implant?

An implant is a small titanium screw with the function of an artificial root. This screw is the basis for the reconstruction of the tooth, it is permanently inserted into the jawbone.

Why titanium?

Titanium is an excellently compatible metal for the human body, which leads to a quick integration of the implant with the bone and permanently grows together with the bone during the healing process, which takes several months. Multiple implants can also be used to support bridges. Even two implants provide additional support and perfectly stabilise complete dentures. An implant provides a stable foundation on which a prosthetic reconstruction (crown, bridge or prosthesis) can be made.

When bone augmentation becomes necessary

If the bone has already receded, bone augmentation becomes necessary before successful implantation. Bone augmentation consists of reconstructing the bone tissue. We implant bone tissue, which is usually taken from the patient, or we use bone replacement materials, which are the basis for bone regeneration. Within a few months after surgery, the bone regenerates and remodels, and the implanted material becomes a fully functional tissue, which is a prerequisite for the actual implantation.

Advantages of implants:

- They naturally replace missing teeth
- Implants replace the function of natural teeth 100%
- Eliminate the need to grind adjacent teeth
- They provide comfort and stability for crowns and bridges
- Implants prevent bone loss
- have now been tried and tested for decades
- make removable dentures unnecessary

Contraindications for implantation:

- Severe systemic diseases
- Taking medications that weaken the immune system
- Diabetes
- Mental illness
- alcoholism
- poor oral hygiene

Root treatment / root canal treatment

Root canal treatment is necessary when inflammatory processes occur inside the tooth, especially affecting the tooth nerve, or when the tooth nerve has even died. Such an inflammation can have different causes. The most common causes of inflammation of the tooth nerve are caries, thermal or chemical effects on the tooth, damage to the tooth substance (e.g. cracks or fractures) or trauma in the context of an accidental injury. If such inflammation is not treated, it can lead to pain and damage to the bone.

Root canal treatment involves drilling out the tooth to the inflamed root, then flushing the root canals with a disinfectant solution to remove the germs that have settled in the root canals. It is often necessary to disinfect the root canals repeatedly in successive sessions. In the following step, the root canal is filled with a biocompatible natural material and the hole is sealed. This prevents the re-invasion of germs.

Periodontitis treatment / periodontal surgery

Advanced periodontitis is characterised by bone damage and extended bone resorption around the tooth. The regression of the bone can thus lead to loosening of the teeth and even tooth loss.

With the help of oral surgery, lost bone substance can be rebuilt with the patient's own bone or modern bone replacement materials to stabilise the tooth in the bone compartment again. The gums can regenerate after the procedure.

Aesthetic dentistry / Cosmetic dentistry

Naturally beautiful teeth are a gift that not everyone can enjoy. Even over the years, the appearance of the most beautiful teeth suffers due to external influences. Smoking, coffee consumption but also medication can lead to unsightly tooth discolouration. Thermal or chemical effects can lead to cracks and fractures. Accidents can cause damage to the tooth structure.

In all cases, both minimally invasive interventions, such as tooth-sparing whitening methods, and orthodontic or dental technical tooth corrections are part of the daily treatment spectrum in our practice.

Fillings & Inlays

Inlays, which are an alternative to traditional fillings, are modern fillings that strengthen the tooth and allow the reconstruction of the anatomical shape of the tooth. They are also very durable and wear-resistant. Inlays and onlays are made based on impressions of the teeth and then bonded in place of the cavities.

Oral surgery

Root tip resection

Sometimes it is necessary for the health of the tooth to cut and remove a root tip of the tooth. Such a procedure is called an apicoectomy. We perform it on patients who have been diagnosed with periapical (area around the root tip of a tooth or the tip of the tooth root) inflammation and cannot be treated endodontically due to an atypical structure of the root canal or blockage of the canal. If it is not possible to close and clean the entire length of the root canal, the root tip is surgically removed together with the tissue that has changed due to inflammation. The remaining part of the root is protected from further infection. Regenerative materials are then applied to accelerate bone regeneration at this site. Resection of a tooth root tip is performed under local anaesthesia.

Wisdom tooth removal

Wisdom teeth that no longer fit into the dental arch can press on the tissue and cause pain. Due to their unfavourable position, they are often the cause of inflammation of the gums and the entire periodontium or the focus of caries, which easily develops at the ends of the dental arches, especially since pathological gum pockets form around such teeth, which are also partially erupted, making proper hygiene difficult. Food residues, deposits, tartar collect in them and as a result bacteria, caries and inflammation develop.
